Covid 19 & Amphan Relief Work
Covid-19 & Amphan Relief Work
The Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown as been one of the darkest phases of human history in recent times. Millions lost their lives, livelihood and sanity.
The world and India reeled in this misery.
As if this was not enough, West Bengal was ravaged by the worst cyclone in a century…Amphan Cyclone…which damaged more than one can humanly imagine.
People from West Bengal and others worldwide came out to help the Amphan affected people, especially those living in the Sunderbans region. They were the worst affected as thousands of tiny hamlets were completely wiped out and millions were left homeless.
Om Puri had a soft corner for Bengal, having worked in innumerable Bengali films with stalwarts from Ray to Sen. Besides Nandita Puri also hails from Calcutta and it is here she met her husband during the filming of City of Joy. So it was but natural for the Om Puri Foundation to help in rebuilding West Bengal post Amphan.
With the help from Mukti Foundation, Rotaract Club of Barrackpore, Creative Connection and Yeh Meri India…we were able to get personal bank details from their database and reach out to over 500 families and thousands of people to help them with ration during this most difficult time.
We are still helping the cyclone affected and reaching out to more families through the help of our associates, especially Mukti Foundation.
